Mamounia Lounge Knightsbridge a truly Middle Eastern Experience
A stones throw from the famous iconic store Harrods lays an Arabian dream, Mamounia lounge. Mamounia Lounge offers truly authentic Lebanese and Moroccan Cuisine, Arabian dining, cocktails, shisha, afternoon tea and culinary delights. Mamounia Lounge is the talk of prime central London that is known to offer the best in Lebanese and Moroccan food, while bursting with Arabic entertainment. Mamounia lounge is a hidden Arabian gem boasting an outdoor shisha lounge to relax under the stars. Mamounia Lounge restaurant and cocktail bar offers traditional Moroccan and Lebanese cooking with contemporary flavours, serving many of their dishes in sharing plates to create a unique social dining experience.
The menu is the brainchild of Head Chef Thamer Darwish’s mastery of traditional cooking methods. Darwish uses the finest ingredients and serves many of his dishes mezze style, encouraging guests to share throughout the meal. Darwish combines the best of Moroccan and Lebanese cuisine and features authentic recipes passed down from his mother, making for a truly memorable experience. Some hot picks from the A La Carte Menu; Truffle hummus, creamy puréd chickpeas whipped with tahini, ruffle oil and lemon juice with truffles, wild mushrooms, crispy chickpeas and warm Lebanese bread. Kadaif prawns, King Prawns wrapped with Crispy Kadaif Pastry served with smashed Avocado and Lime.
My Mamounia Knightsbridge experience
Mamounia lounge has a decadent Arabic themed décor, with rich opulent colours, deep reds, gold and bronze accents adorn the restaurant, delicate drapes spread across the Moroccan styled space creating a luxurious haven. Brown crocodile accent chairs, scatter cushions and lantern style candles. There is a special place in my heart for the Middle Eastern culture, the Lebanese and Moroccan love good food, sharing plates and vibrant entertainment. I started to daydream about staring in my own Arabian film-epic. Set in Prime Central London opposite the Harrods’s on Brompton Road, it was easy to find, a short walk from Knightsbridge, station.
Mamounia Lounge is in the perfect location, surrounded by designer shops and five star hotels for a memorable stay-cation or the worldwide traveller.
Upon arrival I walked through the doors and was instantly taken on my very own Arabian journey, exotic in setting. Stylish and contemporary evoking the Arabic charm, chandeliers and rich textures throughout, reminiscent of an Arabian night. Mamounia Lounge provides a relaxed atmosphere so would be an ideal place for group dining, lunch or dinner, date night or dining with friends.
Once seated the host assisted us with the choices on the menu, and explained them all in detail my mouth was watering as they all sounded delicious. First things first was to pick our cocktails; Moroccan Citrus Peel, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries muddled with blackcurrant vodka, Chambord and a splash of proseco beautifully displayed and very tasty; Maryans, Johnny Walker Black Label, Amaretto Disarono, peach liquor and a dash of elderflower, delicious. We decided to pick our starters and mains, our choices were; traditional hummus, creamed puréd chickpeas whipped with tahini and served with warm Lebanese bread, it melted in your mouth. Halloumi cheese, savoury Lebanese cheese with a sprinkle of sesame seeds so tasty; Kadaif Prawns, King prawns wrapped in crispy pastry, heavenly. Chicken Pastilla, shredded saffron chicken, almond and spices, perfect flavours. Our mains Slow Cooked Lamb Tagine served in a sweet sauce, this was heaven on a plate and so delicious. Grilled King Prawns, King prawns marinated with limejuice, paprika coriander my taste buds were impressed. The side choice was traditional Saffron Rice and Buttered Spinach; the menu choices took our taste buds on a journey to food decadence.
The host circulated the menu one last time for us to decide on the dessert choice, we could not resist; Chocolate Fondant, their best seller with a gooey chocolate centre, served with vanilla ice cream and a beautiful selection of ice creams and sorbets, our choices were mango, coconut and pomegranate- oh well bang goes the diet, but worth every bite….
