Waldorf London an iconic British hotel featuring Glamorous Georgian splendour and so much more
Homage at the Waldorf Hilton pays tribute to the grand cafés of Europe, and within the grounds of the Grandeur of Waldorf lays The Parrot, an intimate tropical live music cocktail bar. The History of Waldorf Hilton London is known as one of London’s most iconic hotels and is at the heart of the Capital’s theatre land, a short walk from the globally respected Royal Opera House and the vibrant and artistic Covent Garden. Edwardian grandeur with modern accents Waldorf has been welcoming celebrities and dignitaries since 1908.
The concept behind The Waldorf Hilton was to follow the American tradition of offering more than just a room, but to be a place for passer-bye to stop for dinner, afternoon tea or a drink. Today the hotel is a symbol of English heritage with magnificent dining venues and stylish rooms and suites, while still maintaining its iconic traditional charm.
Homage Restaurant – Waldorf inspired by the grand cafés of Europe, this historic and elegant grand Edwardian restaurant pays tribute to that period. The iconic cream pillars, floor to ceiling mirrors and stunning chandeliers dripping gracefully from a spectacular double-height ceiling, also featuring stunning Louis XVI-style décor. Homage is homage to the roaring 20s serving mouth-watering fine-dining European dishes beautifully presented and bursting with flavour.
Homage is an all-day dining restaurant with a relaxed and chilled ambience, due mainly to the natural light. Homage offers all types of dining from a business breakfast, afternoon tea, to an intimate dinner.
The entrance to the restaurant sets the scene for a truly outstanding dining experience. A pianist on a Grand Steinway piano entertains guests with contemporary and classic musical pieces. A beautiful golden harp adds a glamorous touch and is positioned where guests enjoy afternoon tea.
We were greeted by the non-intrusive host and given recommendations for food and wine. The Homage offers a superb selection of Champagne, sparkling wines and wines, such as Gevrey-Chambertin 1 er Cru, France, for the wine connoisseurs.
Ready to order we decided on our food choices.
We were served customary bread and seasoned butter while deciding on our next selection. We chose our starters: Succulent pan-fried scallop, BBQ, cauliflower, sea herb and caper, so very tasty. The main dish was chicken and wild garlic, sweet potato, tomato, edamame bean and chicken sauce. Sides: famous Waldorf salad and triple cooked chips the meal was tasty and beautifully presented. We were served with perfectly chilled white wine. Dessert was classic Eton mess with textures of strawberry; Wild berry baked Alaska forest berry and micro mint, Heaven on a plate. Next stop The Parrot, an intimate tropical cocktail bar with live music.

The Parrot – The Waldorf’s cocktail bar and live music venue
The Parrot opened its door to guests in October 2018. Opened in collaboration with actor, DJ and Producer Idris Elba, Lee and Nicky Caulfield. The space is a creative collaboration between the iconic hotel and the co-founders, who were inspired by the history of the building and particularly the exoticism of its historic Palm Court.
The inspiration behind the bar comes from the tropical home of a Parrot, The Parrot’s menu offers a cocktail inspired by a different member of the Parrot family, using premium spirits to offer unique twists on classic tropical cocktails. The Parrots hot picks are the short, sharp Parakeet – made with the Maker’s Mark bourbon, Wray and Nephew rum, banana essence and white Peruvian pepper – and the long and tropical Crimson Rosella this is a creative mix of Seven Hills, Pimento Dram spice liqueur, cranberry juice, vanilla syrup and lemon juice. Guests of the Parrot will find something for everyone on the dynamic cocktail menu, to accompany the cocktails; Executive Chef Karl Richardson has created an exciting menu of vibrant and delicious small plates, served on repurposed seashells. Dishes such as Wagyu beef with pickled enoki, wasabi and pineapple and poached lobster with mango, chilli coconut, Roquito peppers stuffed with cheese, served with edamame beans, macadamia nuts and yuzu and quinoa with avocado, sesame, pomegranate and mango, exotic flavours to a hidden paradise.
The bar’s décor is reminiscent of a tropical paradise, walls lined with bespoke, hand-painted palm wallpaper, and leaf shaped lights, parrot décor and beautiful greenery artistically placed throughout the space. Opulent velvet seating in rich turquoise and midnight blue provided the most sumptuously comfortable seating for guests. The bar front is beautiful with detailed teal fish scale tiles beneath exposed filament bulbs, creating a mood for intimate and relaxed moments.
The Parrot is a live music cocktail bar offering quality cocktails, food and entertainment in an intimate tropical environment. Featuring London’s finest musicians performing on The Yamaha London Stage. The Parrot’s house band play pop, jazz, funk and soul every evening until late. Unannounced secret shows are also a hit, where artists from London’s West End, Broadway, radio and the big screen will frequently visit for an exclusive secret performance.
My Parrot London Experience
Stepping inside a tropical paradise is the perfect way to describe walking into The Parrot. I was instantly taken on a journey into a musical and tropical oasis. The low green and blue lights throughout the bar created a relaxed yet vibrant mood. The décor was that of a parrot sanctuary, beautiful parrots surrounding the entire bar. The rich and decadent chairs created a haven of relaxation, shell shaped and soft. Palm tree designed wallpaper and parrot pictures all told the story of paradise.
The bar hostess provided the menu with an array of fun and exotic choices, our hot picks for the night Paradise Parrot; rich and tangy with flavours of passion-fruit, citrus, and a pinch of sea salt. The drink pays homage to one of the most extraordinarily vibrant parrots once found on the riverbanks of eastern Australia. Golden Conure is a sweet and velvety with tropical flavours and a hint of hazelnut. One of the most rare and beautiful parrots in the world; the Golden Conure is found only in the northeastern area of Brazil. The last cocktail was the most beautiful of them all, Kingston Parakeet, sweet and fruity notes of fresh orange and fig with a dash of home made chamomile syrup, and you will be blown away. As we sipped away at our delicious cocktails on the Yamaha stage was a male vocalist and the in-house band, a perfect ending to a fantastic evening.
